Aharbal, located in close proximity to Kashmir, is a petite town renowned for its waterfall, trout fishing opportunities, and a scenic lake. Similar to the surrounding regions of the Pir Panjal range, Aharbal is well-known for trekking. En route to Aharbal, the journey offers glimpses of Shopian’s apple orchards, enhancing the picturesque landscape.

However, finding accommodation might pose a challenge as there are no upscale or luxury hotels in the vicinity. Additionally, it’s advisable for visitors to bring their own food, as suitable options may not be readily available to satisfy their culinary preferences.

Day 1

Aharbal Waterfall

Standing at a height of 20 meters, Aharbal Waterfall creates a 50-meter stream that extends for several kilometers. The water volume cascading down is tremendous, offering opportunities for trout fishing in the lake-formed stream. Fishing permits can be obtained from the Fisheries Department. The waterfall’s edge, comprised of hard granite boulders, provides a captivating experience as you stand there and immerse yourself in the thunderous sounds of the falls.

Kounsernag Lake

Nestled in the Pir Panjal mountain range, Kounsernag Lake is a picturesque destination perfect for trekking. The serene landscape is adorned with coniferous trees, creating a tranquil atmosphere.

Day 3

Kungawatan

A lush green meadow, Kungawatan serves as an idyllic picnic spot.
